Have you felt like you have to emulate men in order to be respected or have authority?
I spent a lot of time pushing and muscling πͺ confident leadership presence only to be left burnt out and depleted, π΅ without the results I hoped for.
As a professional woman I know you want to succeed and make a difference. And, I know you have a nagging fear of failure or of letting others down ( I know I do!– nag, nag, nag) π€π€π€
So, it makes sense that you’d look to successful male leaders around you to model communication and leadership presence.
Unfortunately, there aren’t as many amazing examples of high-profile women leaders. Who do you admire as a woman leader? π¦Έπ½ββοΈ (post below!)
Confidence and authenticity are certainly not gender-specific, but there are certain challenges and blocks that are common to women.
- Like all the conditioning women receive early on about being quiet and demure
- That women tend to value connection and rapport more than men (and want to be liked!)
- Studies show that women with the same cred as men will not apply to a job if they don’t meet all the pre-reqs, whereas men will more often apply.
And, beyond on that, I believe it’s time for women’s voices to be heard loud and clear. Don’t you agree?
