Why Performance Anxiety Can’t Be Cured With More Practice

I hear it all the time…

        “Well, I know that I’ve been dealing with this anxiety for a really long time,
         but…I just need to practice more and I’ll be fine.”

I appreciate the hopefulness in that statement, however I can confidently say that 90% of those hopeful people will not overcome their performance anxiety symptoms and find rock-solid confidence.

Why?

You cannot cure performance anxiety with just more practice…  

It just doesn’t work that way.

Sorry!

I thought that I could get over my fears and nerves by just throwing myself into the uncomfortable situation over and over again.

I threw myself into over 80 speaking gigs in my first year of business! That’s more than one a week!

But, it only burned me out and left me spinning, and more importantly pushing through with fake confidence.
